NTA Releases Advisory For Biometric Verification & Dress Code For NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an advisory for biometric verification and dress code for the upcoming NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled on 21 June, 2026. The NEET UG re-exam will be conducted across different centres in India and abroad in pen and paper mode. 

Mandatory Biometric Verification

On the day of the re-exam, all candidates must undergo mandatory frisking and biometric verification (fingerprint/facial recognition) before entering the examination hall. This is a security measure that must be followed before the re-examination commences. 

In case the biometric verification of a candidate is not completed due to any of the following reasons: 

  • Device hardware failure
  • Connectivity failure with UIDAI servers
  • Poor quality of biometric data
  • Physical inability of the candidate to perform biometric verification

The candidate will still be permitted to enter the examination hall; however, he/she will be required to provide a written undertaking in the examination centre at the time of entry. The format of this written undertaking will be available at the examination centre with the centre superintendent. 

Candidates will NOT be disturbed during the active examination duration for biometric processing. The time duration for the NEET re-examination is from 02:00 PM to 05:15 PM. The PwD/PwBD candidates who are allowed compensatory time can extend the examination period till 6:20 PM.

Advisory Regarding Dress Code & Permissible Items 

All candidates appearing for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination must note the following instructions regarding the dress code and permissible items: 

  • Candidates are allowed to carry transparent water bottles in the examination hall
  • Candidates are allowed to carry their Admit Card in transparent plastic pouches to avoid damage due to rain
  • Candidates are permitted to wear articles or objects of faith like kalawas, religious symbols, turbans, hijabs, etc. However, they should report to the exam centre well in advance to ensure a smooth frisking process. 
  • Candidates can wear slippers or low-heeled footwear. Candidates wearing high-heeled footwear can go through additional checks. 

Candidates are prohibited from carrying:

  • Any electronic devices, such as mobile phones, earphones, smartwatches, Bluetooth accessories, or any such type of communication device, are not permitted in the exam hall. 
  • Large belt buckles, metallic items, heavy jewellery, and any other accessories are not permitted in the examination hall. 

All candidates are required to go through the mandatory frisking process before entering the exam hall. 

The candidates are advised to report to the examination centre at the scheduled time of reporting to facilitate the smooth security check without any stress. All candidates are advised to cooperate with the examination staff for a smooth and safe functioning of the examination.
